I spent several artistically transformative months playing upright bass in Hong Kong with a jazz quartet in 2004. While living there, I purchased a head band that had an Asian character embroidered on the front. I resonated with it somehow even though I had no idea as to its meaning. I just thought it looked cool. Then whenever I’d go out in that rocking city, shop owners, restauranteurs, club owners and seemingly everyone I ran into started calling me “Mr. Endure”. Turns out, that was the meaning of the Asian character on my headband. As soon as I was told this, I knew what to name my next downtempo album – and it did take a very long time to pull that album together. So a huge thank you to all of the fans of “Temptation Sessions” for hanging in there – Endure is for you!
